Evelyn Ann was born Sunday, January 26th at 10:34am (note: her due date was the 25th!). My pre birth waves started on Saturday am. They were very mild and only every 15 min or so. Since it was too cold to walk outside, we went to the Mall of America and walked around and had a nice dinner. I went to bed around 9 pm and then the waves became more intense, but still seemed like I could "sleep through them". So I called my midwife, let her know I'd call if something changed and attempted to go to bed.

We are thrilled to share this fabulous VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) birth story. Thanks to Jessica for allowing us to share. We hope you love it as much as we do!
Click here to visit Jessica's blog and read her story. Hello Hypnobabies Community (moms, dads, doulas etc) I am writing this for the hypno-curious as I once was….but delivering my first baby convinced me that IT WORKS!!
First, I am a nerd. I am also a skeptical nerd. One that never out-grew the “why?” stage. The kind of person who can’t take even an “expert's” word for something. I HAVE to obsessively research and go back to the raw data and theory before making a decision. Pregnancy only made this worse. See Dr Google. http://blogs.babycenter.com/mom_stories/do-you-love-dr-google/ A little background about my pregnancy is that I had intended on taking my Hypnobabies course in Minneapolis and had already signed up for a class when we learned that my husband got a new job in Upstate New York. I had fallen in love with Hypnobabies but there were no instructors or classes anywhere near me in NY. I was 7 months pregnant and really determined to use this method so I decided I would do the Homestudy Course. The other things about moving to NY is that I had to change midwife practices late in my pregnancy and we do not know anyone in the area, no family or friends so I decided I would look into hiring a doula for a little bit of extra support. Turns out there are no hypno-doulas in the area either, but I was lucky enough to find a doula who is also a HypnoBirthing Instructor, who was willing to work with me and use my Hypnobabies tools. Toward the end of my pregnancy, Hypnobabies helped me have a sense of peace about when my daughter would be born. I was significantly dilated and effaced and experiencing waves before the birth, and my midwife said that my baby would likely be coming early. But my doula, Lindsay McCoy, reminded me that we do not give birth by numbers. Lindsay was right!
On the day after our guess date, I noticed some discharge around 11 AM and thought that perhaps my water had broken. (It turned out that it had not.) I called my midwives, but I did not want to go to the hospital yet because I was not having waves. I took a nap that day (luckily!). I then started having waves around 3 PM but still wasn’t sure if this was the “real thing.” I felt relaxed and had a big dinner (again, luckily!). Camden’s Birth Story- June 3rd, 2013 For the last two months or so of my pregnancy, I had a real peace about God's perfect timing for the birth of our 3rd child. Since I have the tendency to go "over" by medical standards in my pregnancies, (more than 40 weeks gestation), I was planning on a June baby, since my actual guess date was May 30th. However, I did have some anxiety about the week of May 30th, because we had a lot of other things in life going on, that I was hoping NOT to miss out on (i.e. My daughter’s dance recital and rehearsal). When I was 34 weeks pregnant, my blood pressure was becoming more and more problematic. I was already on “take it as easy as possible” bedrest for two weeks at that point, so I was kind of annoyed. At my weekly appointment that Wednesday my blood pressure was 170/95, and my doctor was like hmm, that’s not good. So we ran some tests, and when I got a call back directly from my doctor (instead of his nurse), I knew that was a bad sign. My story starts 4 days past my “guess date”. I decided I needed some fun to distract me from anxiously awaiting my baby’s arrival. I saw Blooma was hosting a Belly Mapping and Belly Painting night and thought it would be perfect. During the class we found out our baby was ROT (Right Occiput Transverse), which is considered a posterior position. I was shown a couple of exercises I could do and left feeling a little worried about the position. The next night I headed back to Blooma for my usual Sunday night yoga class with our doula, Lindsay. She gave me the Hypnobabies track “Turn, Posterior Baby, Turn”. Jen and Nate share their birth story through beautiful pictures taken by one of their THREE doulas who had the honor of being present for this beautiful birth. If one doula is great, two is better and three is amazing! http://introducingevancraiganderson.shutterfly.com/babyjournal/23 |
